These might be some fabrics you might be interested in if you sew for your dolls. If any of you know of other sources for doll-friendly fabrics, please let us know. I'm especially curious about good sources for flour-sack-type fabrics.

Yes, quilt stores sell a lot of feedsack prints, it's a big thing in quilting right now. Check out

    Keepsake Quilting

also ConnectingThreads.com usually has some 1930's stuff, I just couldn't find any right now.

    MiniDolls
is also a great one for doll fabric, but mostly silks/satins/sumptious types of fabrics. But all in doll size prints. Lots of wonderful trims and such, too.

I know quilt stores used to also sell reproduction 1860's fabric plus the 1930's. I couldn't tell you if they still do since I haven't actually looked for it. But I also watch thrift stores/yard sales for vintage fabric. I made Molly's pjs out of vintage striped fabric that might be from the 1940's.
Joy the little Amish town Arthur,Il their fabric store downtown use to carry this fabric I just don't know if they still do since I haven't been there in awhile.

Quilt stores are great for fabrics. I go to one for their once-a-month fat quarter half-price sale. The last time I was there, I found some blue plaid fabric perfect for Kit's blue dresses. Alas, the store only had three fat quarters left and no more from the bolt. Of course I bought all three pieces but now I'm excited to go back and hunt for other historical doll dress fabrics.

During this past winter Jo Ann Fabrics had a lot of 1930's type fabric, I even found material that looks just like Kit's birthday dress. It was a pretty nice quality material for Jo Ann's (I am not always a big fan of their material, but sometimes it is my only choice). However, I was in there last weekend and all that I found was some cheap, thin material, but still very 1930's.

I have also had luck finding material for Kit at some of the local quilt stores. So far I have found 3 different quilt stores within 20 minutes from my house. Their material is very high quality and washes very nicely. Needless to say I have a pile of fabric for Kit's wardrobe, now to just get sewing. Good luck with your search.
